Well, we didn't win the trophy, but boy, we sure had fun! Steve and Nancy Hindalong, Tim and Maria Chandler, Dan and Lisa Michaels, Derri and Marlei Daugherty flew out to California to attend the Grammy awards last month. It started at the Nominee reception party at the California Science Center in Los Angeles on the night before the ceremony. The reception is where we received our nominee medallions, had our picture taken by the Academy (those will post when they arrive), spotted some celebrities (Gary Busey), dined on some fine food and gawked around for a while. The next day we marched down the red carpet into the Staples Center in downtown L.A. We sat pretty close to the front of the stage for the pre-telecast awards. Got to see everyone from Dr. Ruth to Jimmy Jam and Fred Willard to Allison Krause. It was pretty nerve-wracking during the 2 hour pre-telecast - our category was near the end of it. We lost to the pretty boys from Liberty College (DC Talk) and that was kinda sad. I mean, deep down we knew the odds were against us - left-of-center couple thousand selling retired indie artist against the biggest selling Christian band in the industry. But, as we said before - we were astonished that we were nominated and enjoyed all of it through and through. The show was pretty fantastic live - the sound was great and each performance had spectacular energy. Highlights were U2, O Brother Where Art Thou? and Moulon Rouge. Regrets? Not getting my picture taken with Alissa Milano while she was on the balcony of the arena having a smoke with her boyfriend. Click on the image below for a larger view plus caption. If I get more pictures from the other guys' wives I'll post them here too. Hey, don't forget to sign up for the Grammy Tote-Bag contest! |
