News Updates

2/27/05 - We've got a title for the new CD. From Steve Hindalong:
The title of the new album by The Choir is – O How the Mighty Have Fallen.
It will be available SOON (We’ve just got to get it packaged up, that’s all)!

The song titles are:

O How the Mighty Have Fallen
Nobody Gets a Smooth Ride
She’s Alright
Enough to Love
Terrible Mystery
We Give, We Take
Fine Fun Time
How I Wish I Knew
Mercy Will Prevail
To Rescue Me

The woeful statement, “O How the Mighty Have Fallen,” is indeed scriptural. It’s from 2
Samuel 1:19, where David laments the tragic deaths of King Saul and Jonathan. Those are emotive words in that particular context – but that has nothing intentional to do with our song or our decision to make it our new album title. In fact, I wasn’t even aware of the quote’s biblical origin until just the other day – when I searched the internet!

We chose it as our album title because the sentiment is not only profound, but relevant to us. We’ve experienced plenty of failure, ridicule and disappointment. I’m not referring to “us” as a rock group but rather as individuals. At least to a certain extent, it can be a positive thing to endure humiliation. When we view ourselves truthfully as fallen, we may begin to comprehend and accept divine mercy. And in realizing such liberating redemption, hopefully, we will become less judgmental, and more forgiving of one another. Much of the time, I truly deserve a pie in the face, anyway! “Let’s look into each other’s eyes and sing Amazing Grace.”

12.21.04 - Just did our last evening of recording the other day. Derri did vocals, Steve, Marc Byrd and a new friend named Gabriel from a band called Circle Slide recorded some BGVs. Steve also recorded some tamborine and Dan Michaels put on some more Sax. We'll be mixing in January. Looking forward to offering you this new CD!

12.07.04 - Dear Choir pals,
Just a quick update and press release Well, the creative process of making a record is never predictable. During late Summer we had a good idea that we'd be wrapping up our new CD in November and get it printed up and shipped out in December '04. Silly Choir boys! Between family matters, songwriting opportunities with other artists and production commitments to some other labels our record is pushed back a tad. Now, don't get the wrong idea - we're having a blast and its turning out great, but we also want to be sure that we don't rush it and ensure that we put forth our best effort. With that, the plan is to have it finished in January and sent out to those that have pre-ordered it through our website around February. Our hope is to see the record at retail stores and other online retails in April '05, but available at TheChoir.net and shipped out to pre-orders by Feb. 05. You can read our official Press Release below. As always, thanks for your support, patience and for listening.
