| 1. From 1978-79, Tim Chandler and Derri Daugherty played in Dwight Thopson's band every Wednesday night on Paul and Jan Crouch's program on TBN.
2. In early 1987, The Choir performed at Heritage USA The check they gave us for playing "bounced". 3. At the age of five, Steve Hindalong was on Romper Room. 4. To his shame, Dan Michaels has well over 500 (yes that's five hundred) Snowdome "shaker" souvenirs. Dan began collecting them years ago, while touring with The Choir, but many came as gifts from friendly Choir listeners. "Keep 'em comin'! Dan says. 5. Derri and Dan are avid Wrestlemania fans. (As far as they're concerned, their brush with fame came when they ran into Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine at a Denny's in New Jersey). 6. Dan also has run into nearly all the cast of Family Ties for some reason. Tina Yothers at a pizza joint, Justine Bateman at a HardRock Cafe, Michael Gross at a movie theater and Michael J. Fox at a concert. Dan has been led to believe that if he ever meets Meredith Baxter-Birney that he will spontaneously combust. 7. Derri played his hand as a quarterback in football during his high school years. The story goes that he once suffered a serious head injury resulting in his becoming a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan! 8. During 1979, Steve and Tim performed as part of a Top 40 band, laying down covers of such songs as "Boogie Oogie Woogie" and "My Sharona." 9. During the early '80s, Derri served as an engineer for several albums by artists like Randy Stonehill, Evie, Servant, Altar Boys and Undercover. (One of Derri's brightest moments came when the lad accidentally bulk-erased every thing except the bass guitar track on a song being produced for Daniel Amos' Alarma album.) 10. Steve is the individual who is heard screaming and slamming a car hood at the beginning of Mark Heard's Ideola album. 11. Derri and Steve, being the big bowling jocks that they are, each have personalized bowling balls that they have taken on tour with them. In there own words, "We will challenge any band!!!" 12. No one in The Choir has a tattoo, but dan has a scar on his right foot that he got from horseplaying with his older sister when he was 4 years old. Memories are hazy but it somehow involved a metal turtle paperweight with sharp edges around the shell. 13. Throughout the summer of 1981, Dan made a living by playing his sax on a float in Disneyland's theme parade. His role came complete with a 1940's army uniform and choreography. 14. During an evening meal at a Los Angeles restaurant in 1988, Derri and Steve were surprised to discover that Bono and Edge from U2 were sitting across the room from them. In a mad rush of adrenaline, Derri raced outside to his van, snatched a copy of Chase The Kangaroo and then with great calm and subtly, made his way over to their table. Presenting The Edge with the recording, Derri cited his status as a mentor. 15. Dan Michaels, while driving late-night down a country highway with the guys and their manager of the time after a concert in Sterling, Kansas hit and killed a 1,500 pound farm cow. The beast got around its fence somehow and was crossing the highway - Dan locked eyes with Bessie and tried his best to slow and miss - but the road was narrow and there was no place for the Dodge Van with a trailer full of sound & lights to go. Boom. Pulled over. Cold night. Dead cow in the middle of the road. No humans hurt. Shaken. Dead battery, cracked radiator and body damage on the van. No milk and hamburger jokes please! |
