First Month Theme – "Knowing Jesus"
SALVATION’S MOTIVE
February 12, 2001
John 1:48
"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered,
"I saw you while you were still under the fig tree

To know Jesus as Saviour, Lord, God and source is both a personal decision to accept Him, but also a life long pursuit of knowing Him so much more. Here we find that Jesus is more than Nathanael thought. Jesus, the Son of God, is definitely beyond us. Nathanael asks, "How do you know me?" Jesus answers, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree." Nathanael knowing he was just there is astounded! Jesus saw in a supernatural way – He doesn’t just use the physical eyes to see and know things. He is God in human flesh and even then could see like no one else – but God. In Hebrews 4:13, we’re told of God that, "…Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Jesus sees all things. He sees all of you and your life. He sees the pain, the hurt and yes, the sin too! Do you want Him to see all things? I’m glad He does. He sees the danger that’s ahead, He sees that if we make certain choices we will get hurt and messed up, He sees with eyes of care, leadership and wisdom. Yes, dear friend, He sees it all. When we are forgiven, He sees only the pure righteousness that He gave us! He sees that you, His child, bought with a price, He sees you in love! (See also Isaiah 48:17)

Let’s Pray:
Lord Jesus, there are things I never want you to see, things I am ashamed of, but thanks be to you for your purifying me and making me clean. Thanks for seeing me and my future – where I should go. Thanks for being God you are GREAT!

See you tomorrow,
