"The Church must never be in any sense a little huddle of pious people,
shutting their doors against the world, lost in prayer and praise,
connoisseurs of preaching and liturgy, busy mutually congratulating
themselves on the excellence of their Christian experience."
... William Barclay (1907-1978), In the Hands of God

"Our God has been too 'religious', as if his main interests were worship
services and prayer meetings attended by church members. Don't
misunderstand me: God does take a delight in the prayers and praises of his
people. But now we begin to see him also (as the Bible has always portrayed
him) as the Creator, who is concerned for the secular world as well as the
church, who loves all men and not Christians only, and who is interested in
the whole of life and not merely in religion."--John Stott, From "Balanced
Christianity"

A wise person once said, "If you chase two rabbits, both will escape." So
what rabbit are we chasing at The Village Chapel? Why does The Village
Chapel exist? What is our passion? What are our goals? These are good
questions to ask and to keep asking.

This Sunday evening, after our regular 5 pm worship service, you are invited
to join us for our annual Vision Casting. The Servant Leadership Council of
The Village Chapel will present an overview of the mission, goals, and
vision of The Village Chapel. We'll also take a look at some new
opportunities we have to reach out to and serve our community through the
rest of 2003.

For those of you who already consider The Village Chapel your primary home
church, or are considering making it so, there will also be an opportunity
to ask questions and offer suggestions to the leadership of the church.

Parents: there will be extended child care for this important meeting in the
life of our church.

Rethinking church: new forms for ancient truths

"...and they believed. And when they heard that the LORD was concerned about
them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped." Ex. 4:31

The Village Chapel is a relationship oriented, non-denominational church
that meets on Sunday evenings at 5 pm for worship. The service includes
acoustic praise and worship music, congregational readings, prayer and a
verse-by-verse Bible study. We meet in the atrium room high atop the Hampton
Inn on Crestmoor Rd, just off Hillsboro Rd in Green Hills/Nashville. Loving
