Day 3

Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of god; the skies declare the work of His hands.

It’s been a couple of days since Tim, Maria, Maxwell and Charlotte rode the big bird back to the city of the fallen angel. Move to Music City before the big one hits and California falls into the Pacific !!!! Get out of there, Chandlers, while there’s still time !!!!!!! All your friends are HERE, for heaven’s sake! Yeah…I’ll confess I miss the ocean breeze a bit…and good Mexican food.

We didn’t work too long Sunday. When I arrived at the studio at 1:00 (after check out time…Normally I’d have been at church but, well…Nancy rented a nice room for my 40th and…) Tim informed me that Derri was feeling under the weather.

We worked awhile on that nice tune, "Flap Your Wings". I gave it some rhythm with a pencil on a brass chime, and a maraca on a snare drum. Then Tim annihilated the defenseless diddy with a bass performance sonically comparable to a weed wacker motor, under water, and therefore sputtering out (common household sound). I was a little scared at first, but in retrospect, it was just the tension the lyric warranted. Thanks Tim!

"When you find yourself in a ditch on the side of the road, you oughta get ready to die. When the sun comes over the mountain, flap your wings and fly. Take to the heavens. Take to the sky. Take to the heavens. Fly. When the healer of your heart touches your soul with holy hands, you sure should rise from the dead. When the sun shines through the branches, lift your head. Take to the heavens. Take to the sky. Take to the heavens. Flap your wings and fly."

Derri felt like he was riding a motorcycle without a helmet behind a gravel truck, so we quit, and I made it home in time to light a fire and watch "The Practice" with my lovely wife.
