| 1/1/01 Journal Entry "On Herods birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for them and pleased Herod so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist." The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted and had John beheaded in the prison. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother." (Matthew 14:6-11). I havent been suffering a lot for the sake of the kingdom lately. Yes, I do consider this music "business" to be to a good extent a "ministry." And many of the songs that I craft are sincere offerings, reflecting my faith in the one true God celebrating my liberation in Christ Jesus. But theres little else I enjoy doing more. I receive adulation for it. And recently, thanks to "City on a Hill," Im even realizing commercial success. Ah, the glory! So as another year begins, Im hopeful, and also apprehensive, about the trials that surely await me along this path. I want to be a faithful servant to find courage enough to follow Jesus, cross on my back, all the way to Calvary. Thats the true cost of discipleship. Lord help me, Im willing. Steve |
