"He gives strength to the weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31)

A good thing happened last week on our "City on a Hill" project. Gene Eugene, from Adam Again, flew out from L.A. to play the piano part on "The Tenth Song" (from their classic album, "Ten Songs from Adam Again"). You may remember it as, "I Remember You." Gene allowed me to add a new verse, and Mac Powell, from Third Day, swooped in and sang the lead vocal. Amazing performance! We can hardly wait for Tom Howard to orchestrate it. Prepare to weep!

Having an album project with a decent budget is a great excuse to hang out with old friends. Derri and I really enjoyed spending a few days with Gene -- and he was a musical inspiration as usual. I’ll probably think of some reason to work at his studio, The Green Room, in Sunny Cali. come April. My friend, Wayne Everett (Prayer Chain, Lassie Foundation, Cush) is scheduled to be married on April Fool’s Day (no fooling?!) so I should surely be among the throng -- throwing rice.

And, for you propeller heads out there – this week Derri will be transferring everything we’ve recorded thus far over to his "Paris" hard disc digital system, so we’ll have plenty of tracks for lots of vocals and strings (and exotic percussion!). We started out on 2 inch 24 track analog tape, which is still the best! But now we’re starting to have to sync up DA-88, and ADAT machines, which is a nightmare and has ruined my life on several occasions. Those gizmos are TOYS, I tell you…soon to be bad memories! We’re living in the age of the Jetsons…which is hard for people like me who can’t figure out how to change that obnoxious ringer that Derri programmed on my new cell phone!!

Like Jesus told the storm, "Peace, be still."

Steve provides a bit of encouragement to ol' Genie - say, did you know that Gene used to be a child actor in Hollywood? It's true. Reports have placed him in an episode of Canon, Bewitched and some peanut butter commercial.
